Wedding bouquet design might seem like a simple DIY project but depending on how many bouquets and centerpieces you want, be careful about taking on more than you can handle. Even though wood and fake flowers are all the rage for keeping budgets down, you really need an eye for design – and a love of flowers – to pull off a professional looking floral wedding design.
Debbie Brunjes spent decades as a school teacher and principal before coming back to her roots as a flower farmer. She’s always loved flowers and has a passion for creating unique and sustainable floral creations for all holidays and events.
We chatted about timelines, when brides should choose their florists, and how she likes to tour the wedding venue with the couple to get some design inspiration. She also prides herself with creating a relationship with her couples, which helps enhance the floral designs because she gets to know them on a personal level.
Wedding Tip:
Incorporate bits of you and your fiance into the wedding bouquet design. Listen closely to Debbie’s story about the bride from South Africa. A particular flower from home changed the whole look of her bouquet and made the day more memorable having that touch of home.
